Transformation of Sentences (वाक्यों का रूपांतरण) – किसी वाक्य के अर्थ (Meaning) को बदले बिना उसके रूप (Form) या संरचना (Structure) को बदलना। यह अंग्रेज़ी व्याकरण का एक महत्वपूर्ण भाग है जो विभिन्न प्रकार के वाक्यों के बीच परिवर्तन को सीखाता है।

Rule 1: Affirmative ↔ Negative

- Affirmative → Negative: 'no', 'not', 'never' का प्रयोग करें, और Verb के विपरीत अर्थ वाला शब्द (opposite) लाएँ।
- He is happy → He is not unhappy. (or He is not happy – direct negative)
- Using 'never': Always → never; Ever → never
- He always comes late → He never comes early.
- Using 'no': Any → no; Every → no
- There is some milk in the fridge → There is no milk in the fridge.
- Note: Negative Sentence का अर्थ Affirmative के विपरीत होता है, लेकिन अर्थ (meaning) वही रहता है या बदल सकता है – context पर निर्भर।
- Double Negative: कभी-कभी दो Negatives का प्रयोग जोर (emphasis) के लिए – He is not unhappy. (meaning: He is happy)

- Compound Sentence: दो या दो से अधिक Independent Clauses (and, but, or, so, etc.) – He worked hard and passed.
- Complex Sentence: एक Main Clause + एक या अधिक Subordinate Clauses – He worked hard so that he could pass.
- Simple → Compound: Participle/Infinitive/Gerund को Finite Verb + and/but/so में बदलें।
- Working hard, he passed. → He worked hard and passed.
- Simple → Complex: Participle/Infinitive/Gerund को Subordinating Conjunction + Clause में बदलें।
- Working hard, he passed. → Because he worked hard, he passed.
- Compound → Simple: और/बट/सो को हटाकर Participle/Infinitive में बदलें।
- He worked hard and passed. → Working hard, he passed.
- Complex → Simple: Subordinating Conjunction + Clause को Participle/Infinitive में बदलें।

Rule 5: Active ↔ Passive Voice

- He writes a letter. → A letter is written by him.
- Tense Changes: is/am/are + V3, was/were + V3, has/have/had + been + V3, will/shall + be + V3
- No Object → No Passive: Intransitive Verbs (sleep, run, go, etc.) का Passive नहीं बनता।
- With Modals: can/could/may/might/must/should/would + be + V3
- You must do this. → This must be done by you.
- Double Object (give, send, show, etc.): दो Passive बन सकते हैं – He gave me a book. → I was given a book. / A book was given to me.

Rule 6: Removal of 'too...to' / 'so...that'

- 'too...to' → 'so...that' (negative): too + Adjective/Adverb + to + V1 → so + Adj/Adv + that + Subject + cannot/could not + V1
- He is too weak to walk. → He is so weak that he cannot walk.
- 'so...that' (negative) → 'too...to': उल्टा प्रक्रिया – so + Adj/Adv + that + cannot → too + Adj/Adv + to + V1
- She is so beautiful that everyone admires her. → She is too beautiful not to be admired.
- 'too...to' (positive meaning): कभी-कभी 'too...to' का अर्थ सकारात्मक होता है – He is too wise to be fooled. (He is wise enough to not be fooled.)
- Note: 'so...that' में 'that' Clause Negative होना चाहिए (cannot/could not) – अन्यथा यह Result Clause होगा, न कि 'too...to' का विकल्प।

- Hardly...when / Scarcely...when: मुश्किल से...कि (Past Perfect + when)
- Hardly had I entered when the bell rang.
- Transformation: इन सभी को 'as soon as' में बदला जा सकता है – As soon as he arrived, it started raining.
- Inversion: 'No sooner', 'Hardly', 'Scarcely' के साथ Inversion (Had + Subject) आता है।
- Note: No sooner के साथ 'than', Hardly/Scarcely के साथ 'when' आता है – इन्हें मिक्स न करें।

- Comparative → Positive (Superlative): उल्टा प्रक्रिया – Comparative को Positive में बदलें या Superlative में।

- Note: Very, few, etc. के साथ भी transformations होते हैं – Very few students are as intelligent as Ravi. → Ravi is more intelligent than most other students.

- unless = if...not: दोनों एक ही अर्थ देते हैं – शर्त (negative condition)
- Unless you study, you will fail. → If you do not study, you will fail.
- Transformation: 'unless' को 'if...not' में बदलते समय Verb को Negative करें।
- Note: 'unless' के साथ मुख्य Clause में 'not' नहीं आता – Unless you study, you will not pass. (सही)

- though/although → but: विरोध (contrast) दिखाने वाले Complex Sentence को Compound में बदलना।
- Although he is rich, he is not happy. → He is rich but he is not happy.
- though/although → and: कभी-कभी 'and' का प्रयोग विरोध में (लेकिन यह कम सामान्य है) – Though he is poor, he is honest. → He is poor but honest. (यहाँ but ही सही है)
- but → although: Compound को Complex में बदलना – He is rich but unhappy. → Although he is rich, he is unhappy.
- Note: 'though' और 'although' दोनों का अर्थ एक ही है – 'although' अधिक formal है।
- Even though: जोर देने के लिए – 'Even though' को भी 'but' में बदला जा सकता है।
