Adverb – Verb, Adjective, या दूसरे Adverb की विशेषता बताने वाला शब्द।

  • Time: today, now, soon, later, yesterday
  • Place: here, there, everywhere, inside, outside
  • Manner: slowly, loudly, well, quickly, carefully
  • Degree: very, quite, almost, too, enough
  • Frequency: always, often, sometimes, never, rarely
  • Reason: therefore, hence, thus, consequently
  • Affirmation/Negation: yes, surely, certainly, not, never
  • Interrogative: when, where, why, how
  • Relative: when, where, why, how (join two clauses)
  • Conjunctive: however, therefore, moreover, besides, consequently

  • Reason (कारण): बताता है कि क्रिया क्यों हुई – therefore, hence, thus, consequently, accordingly, because, so
  • Affirmation/Negation (स्वीकार/इनकार): बताता है कि क्रिया हुई या नहीं – yes, no, surely, certainly, definitely, indeed, absolutely; not, never

4 Rule 4: Interrogative, Relative, Conjunctive
  • Interrogative Adverb: प्रश्न पूछने के लिए – when, where, why, how, how much, how many, how often
  • Relative Adverb: दो वाक्यों को जोड़ता है, पूर्ववर्ती Noun की ओर संकेत करता है – when, where, why, how
  • Conjunctive Adverb: दो Independent Clauses को जोड़ता है, संबंध दिखाता है – however, therefore, moreover, nevertheless, besides, accordingly, consequently, meanwhile, otherwise
  • Conjunctive Adverbs के पहले semicolon (;) और बाद में comma (,) आता है।

  • Superlative Degree: दो से अधिक में सबसे अधिक – fastest, best, most carefully (the)
  • Short Adverbs: +er, +est (e.g., fast→faster→fastest; soon→sooner→soonest)

  • Irregular Adverbs: well→better→best; badly→worse→worst; much→more→most; little→less→least; far→farther/further→farthest/furthest

  • Exceptions (same form): fast, hard, late, early, daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, straight, wrong (e.g., She runs fast – Adjective/Adverb both)
  • Irregular adverbs: good→well; near→nearly/almost; short→shortly/briefly; hard→hardly (almost not, not hard)
  • Distinction: hard (effort) vs hardly (almost not); late (not on time) vs lately (recently); near (close) vs nearly (almost)

Adverbs की Position:

  • Front Position: वाक्य के आरंभ में (emphasis के लिए) – Yesterday, I went to the market.
  • Mid Position: Subject के बाद, Main Verb से पहले (Frequency, Degree) – She always comes on time.
  • End Position: Verb/Object के बाद (Manner, Place, Time) – She sings beautifully.
  • Note: Adverbs of Frequency (always, often, etc.) मुख्यतः Mid Position में आते हैं।
  • Order of Adverbs (MPT): जब एक से अधिक Adverbs हों तो क्रम: Manner → Place → Time (MPT)
  • Example: She sang beautifully (Manner) in the hall (Place) yesterday (Time).
  • वैकल्पिक: Time को Front Position में लाकर emphasis दिया जा सकता है।
