Adjective (विशेषण) वह शब्द है जो किसी Noun (संज्ञा) या Pronoun (सर्वनाम) की विशेषता (गुण, मात्रा, संख्या, रूप, रंग, आकार, आदि) बताता है। Adjectives वाक्य को अधिक वर्णनात्मक (descriptive) और स्पष्ट बनाते हैं।

Adjective – Noun या Pronoun की विशेषता बताने वाला शब्द।

  • Quality: good, bad, tall, short, beautiful, intelligent
  • Quantity: some, any, much, little, enough, no
  • Number (Definite): one, two, three (Cardinal); first, second (Ordinal)
  • Number (Indefinite): many, few, several, all, some
  • Demonstrative: this, that, these, those
  • Interrogative: which, what, whose
  • Possessive: my, your, his, her, its, our, their
  • Distributive: each, every, either, neither
  • Proper: Indian (food), Shakespearean (play) – Proper Noun से बनते हैं।

  • Demonstrative: किसी विशिष्ट Noun की ओर इशारा करते हैं – this, that, these, those
  • Interrogative: Noun के बारे में प्रश्न पूछते हैं – which, what, whose (जब Noun के साथ आएँ)।
  • Possessive: स्वामित्व/संबंध दिखाते हैं – my, your, his, her, its, our, their (Noun के साथ आते हैं)।

  • Each vs Every: Each (दो या अधिक में से प्रत्येक), Every (तीन या अधिक में से प्रत्येक – सभी)।
  • Either (दो में से कोई एक), Neither (दो में से कोई नहीं)।
  • Proper Adjectives: Proper Nouns से बनते हैं – Indian, American, Shakespearean, Chinese
  • Proper Adjectives हमेशा Capital letter से शुरू होते हैं।

Adjectives के तीन Degrees होते हैं:

  • Comparative Degree: दो के बीच तुलना – taller, more beautiful, better (than)
  • Superlative Degree: दो से अधिक में सबसे अधिक – tallest, most beautiful, best (the)
  • Rule 1 (Short Adjectives): +er, +est (e.g., tall→taller→tallest). यदि अंत में 'y' है तो y→i (happy→happier→happiest).
  • Rule 2 (Long Adjectives): more, most (e.g., beautiful→more beautiful→most beautiful).
