📘 What are Tenses?
Tense (काल) क्रिया का वह रूप है जो समय को दर्शाता है। अंग्रेज़ी में 3 मुख्य काल हैं – Present, Past, Future – और प्रत्येक के 4 पहलू (Simple, Continuous, Perfect, Perfect Continuous) होते हैं, कुल 12 Tenses।

Present Tenses – वर्तमान काल के चार प्रकार:
- Present Simple: Subject + V1 (s/es) + Object.
Uses: Habits, facts, schedules. Example: I play cricket every Sunday. - Present Continuous: Subject + is/am/are + V-ing.
Uses: Now, temporary, future plans. Example: She is reading a book now. - Present Perfect: Subject + has/have + V3.
Uses: Past with present relevance, experience, just/already/yet. Example: I have visited London. - Present Perfect Continuous: Subject + has/have + been + V-ing.
Uses: Duration from past to present, ongoing. Example: He has been waiting for an hour.
Past Tenses – भूतकाल के चार प्रकार:
- Past Simple: Subject + V2.
Uses: Completed past actions, sequences. Example: She went to the market yesterday. - Past Continuous: Subject + was/were + V-ing.
Uses: Ongoing past action, interrupted. Example: I was watching TV when he came. - Past Perfect: Subject + had + V3.
Uses: Action before another past action. Example: They had left before I arrived. - Past Perfect Continuous: Subject + had + been + V-ing.
Uses: Duration before another past action. Example: She had been studying for two hours when I called.
Future Tenses – भविष्य काल के चार प्रकार:
- Future Simple: Subject + will + V1.
Uses: Predictions, promises, spontaneous decisions. Example: We will visit you soon. - Future Continuous: Subject + will + be + V-ing.
Uses: Action in progress at a future time. Example: I will be sleeping at 11 PM. - Future Perfect: Subject + will + have + V3.
Uses: Action completed before a future time. Example: She will have finished the report by Monday. - Future Perfect Continuous: Subject + will + have + been + V-ing.
Uses: Duration up to a future time. Example: He will have been working here for 5 years by 2030.
Helping Verbs (Auxiliary Verbs) – Tense के अनुसार बदलते हैं:
- Present: do/does (Simple), is/am/are (Continuous), have/has (Perfect, P. Continuous).
- Past: did (Simple), was/were (Continuous), had (Perfect, P. Continuous).
- Future: will (all four tenses, with be/have/been as needed).
Verb Forms: V1 (base), V2 (past), V3 (past participle), V-ing (present participle).
Negative: Add 'not' after the first helping verb.
Question: Invert the subject and the first helping verb.
Common Signal Words – प्रत्येक Tense के साथ आने वाले शब्द:
- Present Simple: always, often, every day, usually
- Present Continuous: now, at the moment, right now
- Present Perfect: already, yet, just, since, for, ever, never
- Past Simple: yesterday, last week/month, in 2010, ago

⚠️ Common Mistakes:
- ❌ Using Present Continuous for stative verbs (know, believe, etc.) → Use Simple.
- ❌ Using Past Simple instead of Present Perfect for recent past with present relevance.
- ❌ Using Future Simple in time clauses (after 'when', 'if') → Use Present Simple.
